Slow Cooker Chili


Serve with homemade corn bread  and you have a nice meal the whole family will enjoy.

  • 1 lb ground turkey or beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • ½ cup chopped bell pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon sugar (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 (15 oz) can kidney beans, undrained
  • 1 (14.5 oz) can diced tomatoes, undrained
  • 6 oz tomato paste
  1. Cooke turkey in a large nonstick pan over medium-high heat until brown, drain.
  2. Add chopped onions and the next six ingredients and cook for 5-7 minutes or until tender.
  3. Place meat mixture in slow cooker and stir in beans, tomatoes, and tomato paste.
  4. Cover with lid and cook on low-heat for 4 hours.
  5. Spoon into bowls and sprinkle with cheese or other toppings of your choice.
The chili can be made on the stovetop if you don't have a slow cooker. After adding beans and the tomatoes, bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, partially uncovered for 1-/12 hours.
