{"id":194,"date":"2012-04-20T21:37:23","date_gmt":"2012-04-20T21:37:23","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/?p=194"},"modified":"2012-04-25T21:42:24","modified_gmt":"2012-04-25T21:42:24","slug":"uconn-baseball-versus-rutgers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/2012\/04\/uconn-baseball-versus-rutgers\/","title":{"rendered":"UConn Baseball versus Rutgers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/7626377.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-195\" title=\"7626377\" src=\"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/04\/7626377.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"250\" \/><\/a>On April 20, 2012, my dad and I went to a baseball game between UConn and Rutgers, in game two of a doubleheader.\u00a0 Uconn had given up a 7-1 lead in game one, but squeezed out a 9-8 victory.\u00a0 We got to the game in the top of the 1<sup>st<\/sup> inning, and when we got there it was already 2-0 Rutgers.\u00a0 However, after Billy Ferriter led off with a single, the Huskies got some more hits and tied the game with two RBI singles.\u00a0 The tie didn\u2019t last too long as a Rutgers\u2019s player hit a two-run homer to make it 4-2, and Rutgers scored another in the inning.\u00a0 Things only got worse when Rutgers scored two more in the 6<sup>th<\/sup> inning to make it a 7-2 lead.\u00a0 During the next inning, UConn started to rally.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After a lead-off single, a pinch-hitter, Stanley Paul hit an RBI double for UConn to start the rally.\u00a0 The next batter singled to send home Paul, and later L.J. Mazzili, the son of an old Yankee player, hit a double to send in another run.\u00a0 He then stole third, and later scored on a fly out by Ferriter, to leave UConn down by only one when the inning was over.\u00a0 The very next inning, a Husky player led off with a double, but two outs were made after.\u00a0\u00a0 Stanley Paul hit a double allowing another runner to score, to tie the game up!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">However, the situation changed when Rutgers scored a run in the last inning, making it 8-7.\u00a0 The Huskies came into the inning knowing they had to score and that\u2019s what they did.\u00a0 With men on the corners, a Husky player hit the ball to the pitcher, but the ball bounced from his glove, and the throw wasn\u2019t in time so UConn tied the game again!
