{"id":222,"date":"2012-05-08T22:46:34","date_gmt":"2012-05-08T22:46:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/?p=222"},"modified":"2012-05-08T22:46:34","modified_gmt":"2012-05-08T22:46:34","slug":"a-day-at-uconn-baseball","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/2012\/05\/a-day-at-uconn-baseball\/","title":{"rendered":"A Day At UConn Baseball"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/photo11.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-224\" title=\"UConn Baseball Coach\" src=\"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/photo11-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"180\" height=\"239\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/photo11-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/photo11.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 180px) 100vw, 180px\" \/><\/a>On May 6, 2012, my family and I went to the UConn baseball Stadium for a baseball clinic where I would get to work with some of the players.\u00a0 The baseball team had a game later on, so I watched them practice for a while.\u00a0 After we got a photo of all the people who had come for the clinic, we went on to the bleachers so the UConn coach could talk to us.\u00a0 He talked about what we would be working on during the clinic, and about having a good attitude, even when you make errors or don\u2019t play well, and about how your mistakes make you a stronger player. After the pep talk, we went over to the field behind the stadium, to do the clinic.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The drills we did in the clinic were outfielding, infielding, and pitching.\u00a0 In outfielding, I didn\u2019t miss any balls and I think the clinic might have helped with that, because sometimes I miss fly balls, or I miss-judge them.\u00a0 The next drill we did was infielding.\u00a0 Once again, I think the clinic helped me because I worked on charging slow rollers, which I usually have a problem with.\u00a0 After that, my group did pitching drills, and we got to see how fast we each pitched.\u00a0 My average speed was 45 mph.\u00a0 After the clinic finished, the three pitchers that worked with us signed some balls for us.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/photo2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-225 alignright\" title=\"photo2\" src=\"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/photo2-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"267\" srcset=\"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/photo2-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/photo2.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><\/a>Before the game started, I got to meet a UConn player that I had e-mailed last summer and is my favorite player, Billy Ferriter.\u00a0 I got to talk with him, and he signed my ball and I got a picture with him.\u00a0 After that, we stayed for some of the game, and when we left it was 0-0.\u00a0 UConn was playing Cinncinati.\u00a0 We saw a base hit for UConn and some good hitting, and the UConn pitcher strike out three batters in an inning.\u00a0 The only play I didn\u2019t get was when Billy Ferriter attempted to staeal a base and was called safe and then the Umpire switched the call!\u00a0 In the end, UConn won it 13 innings, 6-4, due to a walk-off homer.\u00a0 I wish I had seen the entire game, but I had a great time at the clinic, and learned a lot, and I think it helped with my baseball skills.\u00a0 It was also fun meeting some players.\u00a0 I had a great time!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On May 6, 2012, my family and I went to the UConn baseball Stadium for a baseball clinic where I would get to work with some of the players.\u00a0 The baseball team had a game later on, so I watched them practice for a while.\u00a0 After we got a photo of all the people who [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[37,13],"tags":[308,16,15],"class_list":["post-222","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-baseball","category-sports","tag-baseball","tag-huskies","tag-uconn"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/222","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/1"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=222"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/222\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":226,"href":"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/222\/revisions\/226"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=222"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=222"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/sabafamily.net\/joshua\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=222"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
