A Winning Day at Uconn Hockey

On Saturday, I went to an Uconn Hockey game.  They were playing AIC.  Only thirty seconds into the game AIC scored.  The Huskies tied the game when Chris Waterstradt scooped up the puck from the neutral zone and shot the puck into the top left hand corner.

The Huskies took the lead only a few minutes later with a goal by Jordan Sims.  But soon, AIC pulled even when they tied the game at 2-all.  Despite that tying goal, the Huskies scored to take a 3-2 lead going into the first intermission.  The goal was scored by captain Andrew Olson, who received a pass that he fired into the wide open right handed side of the net.

During the first intermission, they had a race to see who could put on an Uconn hockey jersey, hockey gloves, pick up a hockey stick and put the puck in the net first.  I was one of the two people picked.  My contestant and I were neck and neck, but I couldn’t pick up the hockey stick!  When I finally picked up the hockey stick, I easily put the puck in the net.

The second period was very uneventful, as there was only one goal scored.  This goal was scored by AIC, to tie the game at 3-3.  The third period, however, was exciting.  Uconn took a 4-3 lead when a goal was scored seven minutes in.  The Huskies took a 5-3 lead only two minutes later, when Miles Winter, who was standing in front of the wide open left side, received a pass that was easily tapped in.

With only three tenths of a second left in the game, AIC scored.  But only three tenths of a second later, Uconn came out with a 5-4 win.  Between Uconn winning and me getting to go on the ice, I had a great time!
