A Close win at UCONN!

The Connecticut Huskies defeated the Holy Cross Crusaders, 2-1, in the Uconn Hockey classic first round. The game started out evenly, with each team having the same amount of shots. But then, early in the first period, holy cross scored to get a 1-0 lead. The Huskies had a great chance when Andrew Olson shot the puck on net that was blocked, and slid in front of the wide open net, but no one was there to get it.

The second period was very uneventful. Holy Cross out shot Connecticut by only three in the second. Although the second was uneventful, something bad happened. Uconn player Brian Reagan got his arm smashed against the wall when he tried to spin out of a check. I think he might have broken his arm, because I never saw him on the ice again.

The third period was what turned the tide for the Huskies. Six minutes into the third period, Uconn scored. Cole Schneider received a pass behind the net and made a shot. Andrew Olson caught the rebound and fired it underneath the goalie as he tried to land on it, to tie the score. Eight minutes later Uconn put home the Game-winning goal. Jeff Saphiea won the face-off and passed it over to Corey Jendras who quickly put it in the net. Early in the third, Grant Scott took the puck in the chest. He didn’t come on the ice again. UConn officially won the game when Andrew Olson won the face-off putting the puck over the blue line. This was very suspenseful because with four seconds left Holy Cross made a shot. Everyone thought they scored, but Garret Bartus saved it. Uconn advances to the championship to play Princeton.
