I’m not sure who this belonged to but I remember that Alfred (my Grandfather) was very involved in the Lion’s Club, but so was Edward. Though they lived and were involved in Willimantic they use to also own a Business (Saba’s Cleaners) in Stafford Springs, CT.
Phosy’s Package Store was a fixture in Willimantic just like Alfred’s Saba Cleaner’s. It was a sad day for many when Phosy closed…but regardless Phosy always seemed to be upbeat.

These sideline notes are more interesting then the above article, they give a feel for just how rough some of these games were.
This type of thing would be unheard of today without someone getting arrested, sued or at least thrown from the game! Not sure which is better. While it may have been rough, men were men and they settled thing between themselves instead of whining about it and the rules…
