Not sure of the date on this one, not even sure where Chapman Tech is!?! However, these two undefeated teams played at the State Armory. I also don’t know what the outcome was…perhaps in a future post we will find out…?
A local write up of the scheduled Windham High School basketball game against Torrington. Edward Saba was the leading scorer and it was hoped he would play in the game.
Here is a letter my Father received dated September 6, 1986 from the Town of Windham (Willimantic).
As you can see below the Town recognized the contributions of my Grandfather. Truly he was part of the fabric of the Willimantic, part of its history. He helped keep the town alive as a community, something that has largely died since his passing. Here is the resolution the Board of Selectman passed:
My father accepted this however refused to do so in person, he told the Board of Selectman they should have recognized him while he was alive.
Here is a letter from the Lion’s Club, regarding the registration of a woman for the Convention in San Francisco. I believe the woman was my Grandfather’s girlfriend at the time…scandalous!
My Father received this letter from the Governor of Connecticut, William O’Neill concerning the death of his father, my grandfather, Alfred M. Saba.

This is a large, hard cardboard certificate so the edges didn’t scan so well but the details are all there…my grammar school diploma wasn’t this fancy!
